Aviation Data Systems Australia (ADS)
is a privately owned Australian company with a twenty year history in the development of
electronics and software for commercial aviation related applications. The company is one
of a number of technology oriented businesses in La Trobe University's Research and Development Park located in
the Melbourne suburb of Bundoora about
20 minutes drive east of Melbourne's international airport (MEL).
The companys technology focus has grown from its initial developments for ACARS
systems, to VDL Mode 2, GNSS/GBAS and ATN technologies including CPDLC.
ADS is strongly oriented towards development of systems and products
which can be adapted and enhanced to meet specific customer requirements.
ADS provides both independent platform and
PC based hardware and software systems that allow developers and users of data link
systems to emulate and engage in datalink operations between a ground station and an
aircraft. The primary purpose of many of ADS's systems is to replace
either the aircraft system or the ground station system in test and development
configurations.
More recently, in addition to test and emulation systems, ADS has added
the PAGN product to its catalog. PAGN, the Private Air-Ground datalink Network,
has introduced an opportunity to revolutionize the availability and cost of air-to-ground
datalink services by offering a significantly different cost model - when compared to
existing DSPs (Datalink Service Providers).
The founders, directors and staff at ADS
share significant experience in the aviation industry and have a very strong background in
airline data link operations, avionics engineering and development, systems installations
and maintenance, flight testing and hardware and software development.
Aviation Data Systems has demonstrated its credibility and expertise
by penetrating an international market dominated by major corporations. This has been
achieved by offering products and services that respond directly, expertly and immediately
to client demand. This customer driven philosophy has won an impressive list of highly valued clients and demonstrates the
sustainable value and flexibility of ADSs products and services.
In addition to 'off-the-shelf' and customised products, ADS offers
consulting and development services for the implementation of aircraft data link
innovations.
The company was selected as a finalist in the 2002 "The Age / Dun & Bradstreet
Victorian Business Awards - Export Category". This selection
was based on "outstanding achievements in areas of both financial management and
business performance". The award is designed to promote, acknowledge and reward
outstanding business achievement in the state of Victoria, Australia.
