ADS takes over operations of DTekta P/L
Melbourne, Australia - ADS has announced that it has
taken over the research and development activities of metal detector development company -
DTekta Pty Ltd.
ADS will be applying its R&D skills in VHF digital radio technology, electronics
development and digital signal processing to a new technology stream of metal detectors
which will have significant application in the areas of land-mine, security and gold
detection industries.
ADS wins contract with Bureau Of Meteorology
Melbourne, Australia - The Australian government's
Bureau of Meteorology recently awarded a major contract to ADS to design and develop an
AMDAR Data Optimization System (ADOS).
Meteorological Data is routinely gathered by aircraft flying through Australian airspace
and delivered via ACARS data link to the Bureau - where the data is used both directly andindirectly through the WMO (World Meteorological
Organization) for aviation met forecasting.
By analysing details such as flight arrival and departuretimes,
departure and arrival ports, and aircraft met
reporting status, control commands will be generated and sentto the aircraft computer systems during flight via ACARS
data link. This enablesthe ADOS software
system to control the amount of data delivered by the aircraft, eliminating the excessive
data quantities that are derived around the busier airports and along major routes - where
numerous aircraft movements occur - while ensuring that valuable data from more remote
locations continues to be generated and downlinked.
Selex Communications adds ATN decoder module to their PVDL emulation suite.
Firenze, Italy - Selex Communications SPA, supplier of
state of the art telecommunications systems to the aerospace industry, has recently
purchased the ATN decoder module to expand the scope of their PVDL VDL Mode 2 emulation
system. This adds the capability of decoding data passing through the ATN stack from
8208 to TP4 layers. Please contact us if you have any similar requirements.
Brno, Czech Republic - We are
proud to announce that Honeywell's Global
Design Centre (Aerospace) located in Brno, Czech Republic, has become our most
recent customer to procure the PC.ACARS test system. The system - which uses our
SDM-17E electronics module - will be used to emulate the behaviour of an ACARS
ground station during avionics systems development and testing.
ADS's datalink and CNS/ATN products which include ACARS, VDL Mode 2 and GNSS/GBAS based
systems, are now used in 23 countries around the world.
ADS wins contract to supply KARI with data link system.
Daejeon, South Korea - KARI - Korea Aerospace Research Institute,
Korea's leading national aerospace R&D institute, has awarded ADS the contract to
supply a VDL Mode 2 and ACARS Ground Station emulation and monitoring system. The
system will be used to enhance KARI's CNS/ATM development program.
The equipment package plus training was delivered to KARI during August 2007.
Belgocontrol orders D-ATIS and DCL Test System.
Brussels, Belgium - Belgocontrol, the organisation
responsible for air traffic safety in Belgian airspace, has ordered ADS's aircraft
simulation tool for emulating D-ATIS and DCL operations over ACARS data link.
The applications, which are fully compliant with EUROCAE ED85A, ED89A and AEEC 623,
operate on ADS's MVDL
platform which is capable of providing both ACARS and VDL Mode 2 datalink operations.
The emulation tool allows the test operator to initiate downlinks to a datalink ground
station from the MVDL "aircraft". The downlinks travel through the normal
datalink service provider path to Belgocontrol's D-ATIS / DCL applications. These
applications then generate an appropriate response which is uplinked via the return path
to the originating aircraft (the MVDL test platform). The uplinked data is displayed
by the MVDL platform in standard flight deck formats.
ADS and Airtel ATN join forces to introduce VDL2 / ATN test tools
Aviation Data Systems - We are pleased to announce that
ADS has combined with Airtel ATN to provide a
full VDL2 (provided by ADS) and ATN stack (provided by Airtel ATN) emulation and test
solution. These will be incorporated into ADS's existing PVDL (Aircraft & Ground
Station) and MPRT
products to provide testing and emulation of Communication Navigation Surveillance / Air
Traffic Management (CNS/ATM), Connection Management (CM), Controller-Pilot Datalink
Communications (CPDLC) and Automatic Dependant Surveilance (ADS) applications.
To see these products in action or enquire about solutions we can
provide for you, contact us directly to arrange
demonstration.
ADS provides IDS S.p.A. with GBAS emulation system.
Pisa, Italy - IDS
Ingegneria Dei Sistemi S.p.A. has contracted with ADS for the supply of
the airborne DGPS component of a GBAS simulation system for Italys Civil Aviation
Authority. The system to be supplied is based on the Mini-VDR (D8PSK) VHF receiver
and will operate software conforming to the signaling requirements of RTCA DO-246.
The Mini-VDR will receive and decode DO-246 (LAAS) uplinks from
the VDB Simulator and will perform similar tasks to that of an airborne multi-mode
receiver (MMR).
IDS Ingegneria Dei Sistemi S.p.A, headquartered in the city of Pisa, is an engineering
system technology company, providing expert research and innovation services.
PAGN goes 'live' with launch customer Jetstar
Airways.
Melbourne, Australia - ADS's new
PAGN (Private ACARS Ground Network) was switched 'ON' by launch customer Jetstar, in late October. Jetstar, the Qantas
owned low-cost airline subsidiary, is initially using PAGN VHF ACARS ground stations in 8
locations.
Jetstar, with its fleet of 23 A320 and 6 A330 aircraft, flies directly
to 20 ports within Australia and has an expanding international network which currently
includes 18 destinations in the Asia-Pacific region
PAGN allows any airline like Jetstar to become a datalink service
provider (DSP) - owning and operating its own ACARS network - including host processor and
ground stations - but still retaining connectivity to the major DSP's. This
eliminates the on-going service and messaging costs associated with the traditional global
DSP's.
PAGN is a fully flexible TCP/IP enabled ACARS network - ideal for the regional
aircraft operator.

THALES Training & Simulation UK Ltd use PC-ACARS in Flight Simulator application.
THALES T&S - the premier flight simulator manufacturer - has
expanded their use of PC-ACARS in providing datalink simulation solutions. Thales Training &
Simulation, formed out of the combination ofLMT and Thomson
(France), Rediffusion and Link Miles (UK), Wormald Technology (Australia) and Burtec
(USA), interface their own application software to the PC-ACARS hardware. This
facilitates the exchange of uplink and downlink data between the 'aircraft' and 'ground
station' enabling simulation of the broad and increasingly critical services available via
ACARS data link.
ADS also supplies VDL Mode 2 systems for 'real' or simulation
applications.
PC-ACARS gives Qantas "private" ground station.
The Qantas maintenance facility at Avalon Airport, near
Melbourne, is out of range (at sea-level) of the Melbourne ACARS ground station.
Qantas is now able to perform full functional aircraft tests after new ACARS avionics
upgrades by using our PC-ACARS system as their own "private" ACARS ground
station (RGS).
Please ask us how we can develop or customize specific applications for your unique
requirements in ACARS, VDL or GBAS.
If you have any questions about VDL - how it works, its specifications etc - please don't
hesitate to contact us
