ADS
has the two main streams of ACARS products, these being PC.ACARS and the MPRT.
The MPRT is designed for applications requiring a ramp test set capable of providing
go-no-go verification of an installed ACARS system, whereas PC.ACARS is an engineering and
diagnostic tool.
PC.ACARS product family offers both hardware and software features
that can be used either stand-alone or integrated into a fully self-contained and portable
system.
PC.ACARS is a hardware/software combination that enables a PC, through
menu selections, to become an active participant as either an ACARS equipped aircraft
(ACARS management unit) or an ACARS Ground Station. In addition to being in command of the
data communications process, the user can observe the RF data - formatted exactly as the
data is originally transmitted rather than reformatted by the service provider.
PC.ACARS can be operated passively to simply monitor data transactions
off-air or it can be configured to participate actively in both send and
receive - taking the part of either an aircraft or a ground station. When installed
on your PC or notebook, PC.ACARS handles the ARINC 618 protocol
requirements for CSMA, ack/nak, message sequence numbering, block identifiers,
multi-blocking etc
The operator has command of features such as pre-key length adjustment, selective
acking and ground station identifier selection. ACARS message composition is also
available giving full edit capability for message type (ARINC label and sub-label) and
message content. Using additional software options, repeatable test scenarios can be
scripted to facilitate detailed and rigorous testing.
PC.ACARS finds application in the development laboratory, in the
avionics workshop, or as a field or ramp test set or monitoring station.
